Monday March 16th 2009 daily stock tracking

Street - Upgrades, Apache(APA) $72, Coca-Cola Enterprises(CCE) $13, Compass Minerals(CMP) $61, Edison International(EIX) $32, Goodrich(GR) $42, J.P.Morgan(JPM) $45, King Pharmaceuticals(KG), Newell Rubbermaid(NWL) $9, Union Pacific(UNP) $45, weyerhaeuser(WY) $30, Exxon Mobil(XOM) $77, Pall(PLL) $26. Cramer said he's still a believer in the Chinese recovery, and still likes the iShares China 25 Index (FXI), "trade-down" trend of consumers, likes Family Dollar (FDO), Ralcorp (RAH) and Treehouse Brands (THS). Banks stocks to consider, Cramer included Citigroup (C), Bank Of America (BAC), US Bancorp (USB), Blackstone Group (BX) and Wells Fargo (WFC). Bullish on ISIS Pharmaceuticals (ISIS), Ashland (ASH) and Cypress Semiconductor (CY).
TheStockAdvisors - Staples(SPLS) stock is down 40% from its 52-week high of $26.57, the stock’s current price level is attractive enough to warrant some nibbling in the mid-to-low teens. Netflix(NFLX) has exceptional growth prospects as it ventures into streaming movies and games over the Internet, my upside target would be $62.50.

Sat March 14th 2009 daily stock tracking

Street - Cramer, Joy Global (JOYG), I think the stock is so dirt cheap I'm going to continue to pound the table and tell people to buy it. Freeport-McMoRan (FCX). What's not to like? I still like FCX. It's almost doubled since they cut their dividend. Accenture (ACN). At $30 I think it's a terrific company. Sealed Air (SEE). I'm seeing a lot of pressure for the packaging companies. This is a well-run company, so I'll go with it. I think it's probably oversold. Waste Management (WMI). Let's buy some WMI. Their CEO has been on our show many times and he delivers value to his shareholders. Buy Wal-Mart(WMT).
Week Summary - I like Cerner(CERN) they seem to be a leader in the medical information technology, consider buying at 40. Google(GOOG) look for pullback to 320, has been bouncing off below 300. (BP) and (COP) I'd consider at 35 and 38-39. Nustar(NS) looks good, now at 46, see if it dips back near 42. Pepsi(PEP) try to get on a pullback to 51. Wal-Mart(WMT) try to get on a dip to 25. Windstream(WIN) has a great yeild at 12%, look for a dip back to 7 or 8. Consider (ED) or (D) at 36 and 30. Oil service sector such as Transocean(RIG) which has the best analyst rating with 18 strong buys, and (FMC) with 4 strong buys and a good rating. Watch Gold prices, for (AEM) and (GLD).

Friday March 13th 2009 daily stock tracking

Street - Upgrades, Devon Energy(DVN)$72, Foster Wheeler(FWLT)$23, King Pharmaceuticals(KG)$10, Palm(PALM)$12, Nike(NKE), Oracle(ORCL)$20, Staples(SPLS)$21, Skyworks(SWKS)$10, United Technologies(UTX)$47, China Fire & Security Group(CFSG), RehabCare(RHB). Fast Money - Financial stocks such as Morgan Stanley (MS), Goldman Sachs (GS) and Northern Trust (NTRS). Designated biotech hedge funds will be taking their money out of Genentech and setting their sights on other companies like Celgene(CELG), Amgen (AMGN)and Gilead(GILD). Like the refiners and drillers like Fluor(FLR) and McDermott International(MDR). Final trades Millicom International Cellular(MICC) and Transocean(RIG). Top 5 small-caps - NCI(NCIT), American Physicians Capital(ACAP), NVE(NVEC), Applied Signal Technology(APSG), Emergency Medical Services(EMS). Mad Money - Terra Nitrogen, Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM) or Eldorado Gold (EGO), Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) and Hewlett-Packard (HPQ).
TheStockAdvisors - Isis Pharmaceuticals(ISIS), a biotech stock involved in developing drugs for cancer, multiple sclerosis and diabetes. Isis is loaded with cash and the company expects to end 2009 with more than $550 million in cash, equal to 50% of its current market cap. Additionally, the company will aggressively grow its pipeline by adding three to five new drugs per year, and advancing the drugs currently in its pipeline. ISIS is a buy under $15. ArcelorMittal(MT) the world's largest steel maker, is one of the best-positioned to benefit from rising demand from emerging markets. The stock trades at less than five times analysts' lowered estimates for 2009 per-share earnings, management has also said its 2009 dividend would be $0.64, for an expected yield of 3.6%. Gold - Will show strength if it stays above its 65-week moving average now at $875 from 2003 to 2007. Of course, if gold reaches a record high, it would be super strong. Jumping ahead, in a bull market gold always stays higher than its prior low. This means that during weakness gold should stay above $705, last November’s low, in order to stay bullish. In a worst case, the previous low in June 2007 would be the absolute low point for a bull market to stay active, at $645. Silver - It’s now overbought for the time being. Silver had an impressive rise, but it remains below its 65-week moving average and, therefore, it’s vulnerable below $14.60. It could decline to $11.70 but it would still be firm. Once weakness is over, it will be time to buy silver again because the long-term leading indicator shows that a major low is forming. It’s now important to see if gold will form an eight year cyclical low by the summer time. But one thing is certain, be prepared to buy more gold, silver and their shares when upcoming weakness is about over. Otherwise, keep the positions you have, such as our recommended holdings in SPDR Gold Trust (GLD), iShares Comex Gold (IAU) and iShares Silver Trust (SLV).

TheStockAdvisors - Turnaround favorites in oilfield services; The market cap at Schlumberger (SLB) is well over twice the size of its next largest competitor. It sports a strong balance sheet that it can use to enhance its market share via investments in new technology and acquisitions. When the inevitable rebound in energy prices begins, Schlumberger will be a prime beneficiary. Halliburton (HAL) became a pure play oilfield services company about two years ago when it divested itself of its KBR engineering and construction unit. FMC Technologies (FMC) is known for its expertise in services and equipment used in the deepest ocean drilling, including recently setting a new record well depth of 9,365 feet in the Gulf of Mexico, the company has a strong presence in Brazil. Oceaneering International (OII) conducts the lion’s share of its activities under water. It is particularly strong in the market for remotely operated vehicles. There is a compelling risk-to-reward profile at First Trust Consumer Discretionary AlphaDex ETF (FXD). Seaspan Corp.(SSW), the shipping stock as a speculative buy up to $11 per share.

Wed March 11th 2009 daily stock tracking

Street - Upgrades, Dr. Pepper Snapple(DPS) $18, Duke Energy(DUK) $16, Con Edison(ED) $40, Kohl's(KSS) $40, Nucor(NUE) $38, Baidu(BIDU) $185, Hewlwtt-Packard(HPQ) $40, JetBlue(JBLU) $6.50, Motorola(MOT) $5, Morgan Stanley(MS) $27, Perrigo(PRGO) $28, Dick's Sporting Goods(DKS) $18, Kroger(KR) $28, Lowe's(LOW) $19, McDonald's(MCD) $64, Oracle(ORCL), Transocean(RIG) $98, United Technologies(UTX) $50. Possible small-cap multi-baggers of tomm, ATP Oil & Gas (ATPG) the market cap is now $115 million, with a current P/E of 1.3 and a forward P/E of 4. At the height of the oil boom, shares overshot to $50 a share; today they have undershot to $3 a share. Horsehead Holding (ZINC) is cheap by all standards of value. The company has a net cash position of more than $120 million against a market cap of $138 million. Like all things commodity-related, it's priced as if there will never again be demand for its products. But zinc is an essential component of tires, plastics, paints and pharmaceutical products. Cramer - Treehouse Brands(THS), Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM), bullish on Dominion Resources (D) and Edison International (EIX).
TheStockAdvisors - General Electric(GE) has a strong balance sheet, a strong cash position, a very diversified portfolio, and a long history of surviving crisis. GE is a big player in infrastructure, energy, aviation and medical technology - and at current prices, we'd argue that investors get a chunk of all those concentrations for practically nothing. Windstream(WIN) rural communications leader Windstream Corp's hefty yield is squarely backed by a strong business that’s proving its worth under the toughest conditions. The company stands to gain from federal spending under President Obama’s stimulus package. The upshot is one of the safest 12% yields around, along with the potential for strong appreciation as the market’s current risk premium on the share price unwinds. Buy Windstream Corp. -- which I also consider a potential takeover target -- up to 10. For those looking to trade the energy sector, we are recommending positions in Direxion 3X Energy Bull ETF (ERX) and Transocean (RIG).
InvestmentU - The best play for investing in crude oil. Brazil’s state-controlled oil company, Petrobras (NYSE), it’s a wise investment in my opinion.
Zacks - Yum! Brands (YUM) has outpaced the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq over the past year. Analysts see future earnings growth for YUM, which topped the consensus estimate by an average of 5.4% over the past 4 consecutive quarters. MasTec Inc. (MTZ) reported record revenue in 2008 and expects to see gains from the economic stimulus plan. The company has surprised the last 4 quarters by an average of 17.06%.
IBD - HMS Holdings (HMSY), the company provides cost containment, revenue recovery and other services to government health care programs.

Street - Problems with Obama Housing Plan; The rules will require that banks modify mortgages such that the maximum debt-to-income ratio (the amount of money you spend each month on your mortgage), or DTI, for a homeowner is 31%. Banks will write down mortgages by principle reduction, lowering rates, extending out the length of the loan or dropping payments - or all of the above - to meet the 31% DTI requirement. The government (taxpayers, 90% of whom are still paying their home loan on time) will then split the difference with the bank. The plan won't work. It doesn't address jumbo mortgages, many of which are about to reset this year and through 2011 and don't qualify for Freddie or Fannie mortgages. It doesn't address the moral hazard of so many people I read about and hear from that are literally not paying their mortgage, but instead are waiting for a government handout. It doesn't address those who are frustrated by seeing big banks and the "Big 3" given billions of our taxpayer dollars while they pay their negative amortization mortgage on a home that is $200,000 under water -- homeowners that are now encouraging their spouses to quit their jobs so they can get an even lower payment under the new 31% DTI. People will re-default on their loans if the property value goes down to have their payments lowered again. Perhaps the most toxic component of the plan is what's known as the cramdown -- allowing bankruptcy judges the ability to force lenders to write principle balances down to something affordable and reasonable by the homeowner. This plan is highly flawed. It doesn't address the jumbo markets and the next wave of foreclosures. It certainly does nothing for those who are dutifully paying their mortgage. It encourages lack of competency and accountability. It will allow refinances through Fannie and Freddie that are paid for and subsidized by the taxpayer. It doesn't stop people who lied on their mortgage applications the first time from lying for a modification. It may hurt many honest hardworking people.
Article - Deflating the hype about Deflation; Deflation is caused by a reduction in the supply of money available in an economy, relative to the goods and services available. The most classic example of this is in Japan. Many people believe that the U.S. is headed for a similar fate because of our housing and stock market collapse combined with the credit crisis. First, the U.S. government has moved forward with these anti-deflationary policies, zero interest rates, quantitative easing and massive government spending, in short order. Second, it is in the national interest of the U.S. and the personal interest of most American consumers to create inflation. This will decrease the value of the dollar and make it easier to repay debt. Third, Japan produces too much and consumes too little, relative to the size of its economy and its stage of development. This is exactly the opposite of the U.S. We are far less likely to fall into a long-term deflationary spiral because there are not likely to be too many goods and services produced relative to demand. People should not confuse short-term declines in commodity prices and asset prices caused by a recession with long-term deflation. Gold and other hard assets are a good long-term value to protect your cash against future inflation. On a relative basis, oil is probably the best value of any investment today, because it has collapsed down to unsustainably low levels and almost has to go up substantially over the next six to 12 months. Consider U.S. Oil Fund ETF(USO) or (UCO), also oil stock funds like (XLE) or (OIH). Wait on a pull-back on gold to buy (GLD) or (DGP). Another way to benefit from future inflation is to take advantage of low-interest rates and lock in long-term financing to buy income property. Cramer, dividen stocks, Terra Nitrogen(TNH) yield 9.8%, and FPL Group(FPL), a Florida based electric utility, yield 3.9%. Bull on, (WMT),(RIMM),(CAT),(AGN),(GS),(V),(MA). Top 5 fast-growth, (GILD), (DV), (STRA), ManTech International(MANT) technologies for national security, and Haemonetics(HAE) is a global leader in blood processing equipment. 5 Buy-rated drug stocks; Johnson&Johnson(JNJ), Novartis(NVS), Abbott Labs(ABT), Wyeth(WYE), and Bristol-Myers Squibb(BMY). Each company's shares are attractively priced at less than 14 times analysts' estimates for 2010 earnings, they're forecast to increase profits next year, and their cash flow and balance sheets are healthy, and they have dividend yields of 2.6% to 5.7%. Upgrades, Intuit(INYU) $27, Limited Brands(LTD) $10, Mylan(MYL) $16, Psychiatric Solutions(PSYS) $34, Exxon Mobile(XOM) $80.
TheStockAdvisors - PepsiCo(PEP) has built an impressive lineup of 18 brands, Aquafina, Gatorade, Amp, Lipton and Starbucks partnerships, Frito Lay division which includes Doritos, Tostitos, cheetos, Ruffle's, and Cracker Jack. Week Summary - OK, as you can see from the variation in my posting date and information date, I am well behing on my blog. This is due to several factors, moving, busy at work, an I've been going snowboarding on my days off!
Health Care still seems to be the most recommended sector, I like Gilead(GILD), and Celgene(CELG) in the biotech, Cerner(CERN) in electronic medical records, and Teva Pharmaceuticals(TEVA) for generic medications. China's stimulus should benefit Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold(FCX), (YUM), (MCD). The Stimulus package has 20B for food stamps for the poor which should benefit Wal-Mart(WMT) and Family Dollar Stores(FDO); construction companies such as URS Corp(URS) for infrastructure, Astec Industries(ASTE) for roads, and MasTec(MTZ) for utilities should benefit. Big, Dividend paying companies with plenty of cash to keep it up are nice, such as (BP) oil, Consolidated edison(ED) utilities, and Southern(SO) utilities. Energy should rebound, look at Petrobras(PBR), (BTU) for coal, and Energy Conversion Devices(ENER) for solar and batteries. I also like Wal-Mart(WMT), (YUM), McDonald's(MCD), (HPQ), and (INTC).
Street - Fast Money recap, like Foot Locker(FL), and Buckle(BKE) as bargin retail stocks, also (GMCR) and Home Depot(HD) for its valuation and balance sheet, final trades (IBM) and Wells Fargo (WF).
