Street - Money Managers' top ETF picks for 2009 - Vanguard Utilities ETF(VPU) this ETF has 84 holdings and a yield of 3.7%. PowerShares DB Agriculture Fund(DBA) now trades at 39% below its 52wk high. Market Vectors Agribusiness ETF(MOO) is another ag-fund with good value. iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index(EEM) is very diversified, but is volatile. Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF(GDX) is a good fund to play gold. iShares S&P Global Infrastructure Index(IGF) is good for the potential 2009 build-up, with 26% in U.S. stocks.
Week Summary - There have been several good ETF suggestions this week, I especially like the agriculture (PAGG), infrastructure (IGF) and (FLM), and China SPDR(GXC) ETF's.
Procter & Gamble(PG), Johnson & Johnson(JNJ) and Hewlett-Packard(HPQ) are my favorite DOW stocks, stable with a good dividend. Stocks that I think are a good value and will grow are Potash (POT) and Terra Nitrogen (THN) for agriculture, Transocean (RIG) for oil recovery, Fluor (FLR) and Catapillar (CAT) for infrastructure, McDonald's (MCD) will continue to dominate with cheap food and expansion into China, Pepsi (PEP) as a strong consumer brand, Google (GOOG) as the strongest high-tech with a ton of cash, and PetMed Express(PETS) should continue to do well as spending money on pets is a priority for most people. Also, Wall-Mart (WMT) is the best retailer and its share price may dip down because of poor retail spending numbers, scoop it up on dips.
a summary of various stock recommendations from various sources.
